With projects starting to roll around, I thought it would be a good idea to at least have links to useful sites in one convenient place.
Today's helpful link is The National Institutes for Health and Care Excellence.
This is the website where you can find the accepted guidelines for clinical practice in the UK. These are handy to evaluate drug therapies to make sure that all bases are covered for the patient.
The guidelines can also be handy for writing papers and doing research because they give you an idea as to where currently accepted therapy stands.
In case you're curious or want to see a comparison, the U.S. version of NICE is The National Guidelines Clearinghouse.

So, this was mentioned during the first week at that session about CV writing and interview skills, but I thought I'd post a link here just in case.

LinkedIn is a professional network that connects you to other professionals by education, skills, and job experience. If you haven't heard of it, it's a free website that links you as a professional to only to colleagues and classmates that you know but also to the people that those colleagues and classmates know to create degrees of connection to other professionals and companies.
I'd say it's like "Facebook for professionals" but that's selling LinkedIn short.
Basically, it takes all those "friend of a friend" connections that can be crucial in getting your foot in the door for an interview with a company/hospital/pre-reg position and puts them online.
For example, you may have a friend that works for Company A, and that friend may know that his or her company is looking to hire someone. Being linked to your friend on LinkedIn may help your profile to stand out, especially if you possess the skills needed for the position.
But LinkedIn is so much more than just a resumé or a word-of-mouth recommendation, because it brings your skills and experience to the fore.
When you create a LinkedIn profile, the site will ask you all about your education history, your work history, your job skills, your language skills, past projects you've worked on. LinkedIn allows you to create the in-depth resumé that showcases your strongest points without being overwhelming for the employers who may read it.
I'd go on about LinkedIn, but I thought it'd be better to link to a snazzy video here.
Youtube: What is LinkedIn?
And another....
Youtube: How to Create a LinkedIn Profile
And, if you're interested in knowing more, there are tons of tutorials on Youtube. Also, the LinkedIn Youtube Channel is full of cool stuff about how to make your profile shine!
Hope this helps.

Class Schedule
So, I found the timetable on MAP completely confusing so I'd gone and made my own version. Since I've had some difficulty e-mailing it, I thought I'd post a link here.
A couple things to note:
--This schedule is only as accurate as the information on the Blackboard Timetables. I do not in any way claim that they are completely accurate, so if you think something sounds wrong, just double check against your own blackboard time tables.
--This schedule was made from my own timetable. There may or may not be things that differ from yours. One thing I can point out is that there is an extra class on here running from 6-8pm on Mondays. That's just an extra class I'm taking. It ended up in my schedule, but you guys don't have to pay any attention to it.
--This schedule was made October 6, 2013. Any changes made after that date will not be reflected in this schedule, so please be sure to keep up to date with the class announcements.
That being said, here are the links to the monthly schedules for the first term. Please let me know if there are any issues.

Get to Know Us: Part 1
So, this series of posts called "Get to Know Us" are intended to introduce the current members of the OSPAP Student Society of Aston. Before we start talking about pharmacy practice, we feel it is important to introduce ourselves. As such, we'll have a series of brief interviews will all our members so you can know who is who.
First, we'll start with an example using my information.
